Privacy Policy

Around the Felt ("Around the Felt," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website and app at aroundthefelt.com, a tool that helps hosts organize private home poker games. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. Your email address and password (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider).
Host profile. Your name, mobile number, photo, and default game settings you choose to save.
People you add. As a host, you may add players to your roster and events, including their names, email addresses, phone numbers, and photos. You are responsible for having permission to provide this information (see our Terms of Service).
Game data. Events, proposed dates, availability responses, buy-ins and cash-outs you record, tournament settings, and results.
Automatically collected data. Device and usage data, log data, and information stored locally in your browser (e.g., localStorage) used for caching and keeping you signed in. We also automatically log when a user or invited guest opens a tokenized platform or invite link (including timestamps), so hosts can see engagement on the invites they share.

2. How We Use Information

To provide, operate, and maintain the service and your account.
To send transactional emails (for example, notifying a host that a player submitted availability, or that a game recap is ready).
To generate the stats, leaderboards, and recaps you use.
To secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service, and to communicate with you about it.

For users in the EEA/UK, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, and your consent where required.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the service:

Service providers. Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Resend (transactional email), and Vercel (hosting). If we introduce paid plans, a payment processor (e.g., Stripe) will handle billing.
Analytics and monitoring. We use third-party vendors for application performance monitoring, error tracking, and analytics — specifically Sentry for real-time error reporting and crash diagnosis, and PostHog for product analytics to understand user behavior and improve the platform. These services may collect technical data, including IP addresses, browser configurations, and interaction logs, in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
Payment apps. Buy-in QR codes hand off to third-party payment apps (such as Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App). We do not process or receive those payments, and each provider's own privacy policy applies.
Legal and safety. Where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights and safety.
Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We will delete or anonymize personal information on request or after account closure, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To make a request, contact us at support@aroundthefelt.com.

Your Privacy Choices. You can opt out of analytics cookies at any time using the cookie banner, the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the site footer, or the Privacy section of your account settings. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends GPC, we automatically opt you out of analytics. Opting out does not affect essential, privacy-preserving measurements (such as aggregate, cookieless traffic counts) or the error monitoring we use to keep the service secure and working.

Note for hosts: information about players you add is processed by us on your behalf. Requests from those individuals may need to be directed to the host who entered their details.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

Around the Felt is not directed to, and not intended for, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Transfers

We are based in the United States and process data there. If you access the service from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Effective date" above.
